 * underdog : 「勝ち目の薄い劣勢の立場」「敗北しそうな側」「社会的な弱者」の意。闘犬において強い犬に押さえつけられている負けそうな犬が由来とされる説が強い。underdogが「負けそう」なのに対し、loserは「既に負けている」ためloser(負け犬)とはニュアンスが異なる。
